Spring rain sends my mind to adventures in Paris. Fortunately, I can escape to the eiffel tower in just a hop, skip and a jump down the street at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia. Standing tall in the Commonwealth Plaza, the 81-foot light-bulb-filled Eiffel Tower brightens up the modern space with nightly light shows (7pm and 10pm), part of the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts.
On a particularly gloomy Saturday, I made my way to the tower with tea in mind. The Kimmel Center cafe carries a lovely array of one of my favorites, Mighty Leaf. Opting for a traditional, rich, citrusy sip of Earl Grey, I nestled into a corner table at 6:55 and waited for the luminescent show to begin. Within minutes, Parisian music soared in through the speakers as bulbs dazzled and lit up surrounding faces. The sights, sound and sip brightened the evening of spring rain and sent me on a parisian play-date, even for a moment.
Oooh la la! In honor of the last week of the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts, the 4sq mayor of the PIFA Eiffel Tower at noon on Saturday, April 30 wins a $100.00 Maggiano’s gift certificate! And it should be easy – since there are dozens of free events happening in the Plaza this week. Come out and check-in!
Stay tuned as teaspoons & petals explores the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts through May 1st. This post is supported by PIFA and reflects my honest thoughts and opinions.
